KARA MILLER LAc, MAcOM, Dipl. C.H. (NCCAOM)
Kara began her career in Women's Healthcare in 1995 when she received her Doula certification from the Seattle Midwifery School.
After moving to Ashland in 1997, she began working for a local acupuncturist and also attending births as an assistant to a local team of midwives.
As she was falling in love with the art and efficacy of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, she attended a birth in which there was an acupuncturist present, and became inspired to pursue a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon, with a focus on womens’ health. She wrote her thesis on post-partum depression and has had a keen interest in mental health, particularly that of new moms, ever since.
After completing her graduate degree, she traveled to Nanjing, China, for an intensive internship at the China Nanjing International Acupuncture Training Centre in the Gynecology department and had the opportunity to study under a highly respected senior medical doctor who has been in the field of Women's Health for over 50 years.
Kara’s primary passion over the length of her career has been to provide comprehensive reproductive healthcare to women of all ages. Her areas of expertise include pregnancy, pre- and post-partum care, infertility, menstrual irregularities, PMS and hormonal imbalances, perimenopause, and menopause.
In the last few years she has expanded her education and experience in the field of mental health, particularly among teenagers and young adults. Anxiety and depression are increasingly prevalent among all age groups, but particularly widespread among our youth. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine offer natural and innovative treatment options for a wide range of mental health concerns. Kara has witnessed profound transformation among people of all ages she has worked with. She brings awareness, compassion, and deep personal understanding while providing safe, gentle, effective mental-emotional support to her patients.
Together with her husband Jason Miller, she is a cofounder of Jade Mountain Medicine.
